History and Tradition
Rouzathul Uloom Association, established in 1942 with the vision of renaissance in the educational and socio-cultural dimensions of Malabar by Moulavi Abu Sabah Ahammed Ali has expanded beyond bounds to the present day multi-institutional complex of Farook College Campus.
Farook Training College, the third institution in this prestigious campus, established in 1961, is the first teacher training college managed by Muslim minority in the state to promote the cause of education in Malabar, to provide quality education to all classes of people, to attract and encourage talented students towards teaching profession, especially from financially and educationally backward Muslim minority students and other marginalized sections of the society.
Besides the B. Ed. programme since its inception on 02/08/1961, the institution has been a centre for M.Ed programme since 1996. The institution has been particular to cater to the dire needs of the region for trained teachers and presently offers admission to 6 optional subjects- English Education, Malayalam Education, Mathematics Education, Natural Science Education, Physical Science Education and Social Science Education. B.Ed in Commerce subject has been amongst the programmes of Farook Training College from 2001 in aided sector and from 2004 to 2014 in unaided sector.
The college has been upgraded as a Research Centre in Education by the University of Calicut in 2012. During the last sixty years the college has geared all its academic and extension activities in pursuit of quality teacher education to all classes of people by providing state of the art facilities to do so.
The courses are recognised by NCTE. IGNOU identified the college as a Programme Centre and provided B.Ed., M.Ed., M.A (Education) and PGDET courses upto 2017. The college has excellent infrastructure and resourceful staff members. In September 2012, the College was re-accredited at A grade with a CGPA of 3.54 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC). In December 2021, the college was accredited by the State Assessment and Accreditation Centre (SAAC), Kerala State Higher Education Council at A+ Grade with CGPA of 3.39.
