Inclusive Campus Initiative at Farook Training College

As part of the strategic plan to make Farook Training College an inclusive campus, several transformative projects were implemented by the IQAC and NSS Unit 263 during the year. These initiatives aimed to foster inclusivity and support differently-abled individuals, empowering them through various means:

  1. Special Care Room : A dedicated facility at Umbichy Haji School equipped with sensory-friendly resources and therapeutic tools. It offers therapy, skill-building, and emotional support to differently-abled students, promoting independence and well-being.
  2. Jeevodhayam : Empowering endosulfan-affected children in Kasaragod by promoting and selling their handmade products, such as hand wash and seed pens, ensuring economic independence and social recognition.
  3. Mazhavillu : Transformed classrooms into sensory-friendly spaces by painting murals in special schools. These vibrant spaces create an inviting atmosphere, fostering belonging and motivation for differently-abled students.
  4. Revive : Music therapy and counseling sessions that used music as a therapeutic medium to enhance emotional well-being and self-expression among differently-abled children.
  5. Aurora : A sports meet for differently-abled children, featuring adaptive games and activities to build motor skills, coordination, and self-esteem in an inclusive and celebratory environment.
  6. Mejora : Skill development for differently-abled students of Buds School, teaching crafts like seed pen making and engaging in cultural programs to enhance confidence and creativity.
  7. Bambine : Recreational activities for differently-abled children at Kadalundi Beach, promoting physical, cognitive, and social growth through sandcastle building and games.
  8. Dastek : A cultural and skill-training initiative that showcased the talents of differently-abled children while fostering inclusivity through interactive events and performances.
  9. Cuddles : An interactive program at Kanivu Special School featuring games, cultural performances, and competitions that celebrated the abilities of differently-abled children.
  10. World Down Syndrome Day Celebration : A day of kite flying, competitions, and awareness activities to foster social inclusion for differently-abled children and their families.
  11. Children’s Day at Kanivu Special School : Included art programs, rallies, and competitions to inspire creativity and joy among differently-abled students.
  12. International Day of Disabled Persons : Poster exhibitions and awareness activities to promote a society inclusive of differently-abled individuals.
  13. Palliative Care Activity for Differently-Abled : Hands-on care and training programs to enhance the well-being of differently-abled individuals, fostering empathy among students.
  14. Kinapunchiri : A special visit to Kanivu Special School where volunteers conducted interactive games, ice-breaking sessions, and group activities to promote socialization.
  15. World Polio Day Awareness : Informative sessions emphasizing the importance of polio vaccination and accessibility in public health.
  16. Kurunnukalkkopam Hopeshoril : An inclusive program at Hopeshore Special School, featuring mural painting and parent engagement to create a joyful environment.
  17. Introduction to Disability Studies : An online lecture series promoting awareness of disability studies and inclusive education.
  18. International Sign Language Day : Awareness sessions with interactive games to break communication barriers and foster inclusivity for the deaf community.

        These initiatives underscore Farook Training College’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, and social responsibility, making it a beacon of support for differently-abled individuals​

 

Resources for Divyangjan students


    The institution provides resources in the form of infrastructural and academic for the benefit of Divyangjan students which are as follows. 

1.     Computer facility  with special reading software is provided exclusively for Divyangjan students in the lab

2.     Library is enriched with Braille books in the secondary level to enable the students in teaching practice and              related practical  works

3.     Promote use of voice recorder and to submit the assignments in typed form

4.     Extension of time in submitting all products

5.     List of Scribes in the college

  • Contact numbers in the state level for the help of divyangjan students
  • The institution provides the exceptions as per rule, such as extended time, provision of scribe for theory examination and individual help for completion of written records for practical examinations
  • The institution provides proper help to each student in accordance with their degree of disability.
  • Required resource materials like audio cassettes, Braille textbooks, teaching aids as adaptive materials and geometric kit are provided
  • Such students are entrusted to the special care of members of faculty and encourages peer tutoring for them
  • The institution honours toppers among differentially abled students.
  • Relaxations are many for such students, including preference for the selection of internship schools, opportunity for participating in special events in sports and games and extension of time for submission of assignments and practical.
  • Physical facilities like Ramp and Rest room is provided for the Divyangan students.
